Bluecoat is looking for a Project Facilitator to manage the 'Colonial Legacies' strand of its Echoes & Origins project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, that will explore our building's origins and their echoes in Liverpool today. The job involves working with young people and archives to devise a public programme of art.

The Project Facilitator will draw on the story of the charity school that originally occupied the Bluecoat building, as well as an archive relating to artists who have interrogated this and other historical narratives. With support from our team, you will manage a workshop programme for groups of young people aged 14-19 from the Greenhouse project in Toxteth. Through discussions, creative activities and research, you will support them to explore themes relevant to their own cultural identities and lived experiences, connecting these to colonial legacies associated with Bluecoat and Liverpool. With your guidance, the group will develop a public programme which might include an exhibition, performances, interventions in the public realm, discussions, a publication, and online activities.

We are looking for an empowering individual who understands the stories we'll be exploring and how they connect to the formation of Liverpool's diverse communities today. We need someone who can sensitively encourage young people to tell their own stories, and grow their own skills in the process. You'll need to be a creative thinker, with an eye for detail and great organisational and interpersonal skills.

Bluecoat acknowledges that its current workforce does not reflect the cultural and ethnic make-up of our audience, and we therefore welcome applications from candidates from as diverse a range of backgrounds as possible, who meet the required criteria.
