What is the purpose of this role?

In this role you will work closely with the Fleet & Plant Manager who is responsible for 55 Highways Gritters and over 200 items of plant. You will provide efficient and effective co-ordination or supervision relating and deliver solutions through managing others or providing professional service.

What will this role involve?

* Assist with Hitachi/ vehicle lease provider interfaces. * Contract assistant for all Vehicle, Plant & facilities operations * Manage and update Maintenance planner for Highways England vehicles * Manage on, off hires / breakdowns / Compliance of all hired plant * Maintain required levels of Bunkered fuel and Ad-Blue stocks, * Order parts when requested by Vehicle Fitters * Maintain LOLER database and arrange lifting equipment inspections * To provide input to the departments P & L / budget and annual forecast programme to meet identified demands in accordance with agreed criteria * Provide support to contract by applying broad, technical understanding of required activities, maintain fleet, plant and facilities standards and policies for vehicle and facilities operation within the contract. * Provide support to customers by applying understanding of required activities with supervision as required * Complex operational or administrative support to the Amey business, key to delivering a great service to our customers. * Actively participate in the development of innovative solutions * To keep informed of developments in the Fleet, Plant & Facilities industry * Development of the immediate department team and Involvement in training new starters * To provide regular management information reports as and when required * Input to the Improvement of customer satisfaction, and quality of service, through the delivery of the Fleet, Plant & Facilities customer satisfaction improvement plan

What are we looking for?

* O Licence Holder (not essential but desirable) * Skills and experience required to perform well in the job will be gained through formal on the job training, potentially up to technical or vocational qualification level or equivalent experience. * Experience of managing fleet operations and maintenance as well as facilities management * Competent user of Microsoft Office * Able to demonstrate a logical thought out approach to completing workload * Execution of continuous improvement activities * Experience working in a 'Fleet Management' environment
