About us

For over 25 years, Global Witness has fought to end environmental and human rights abuses driven by political and corporate elites.  Through bold and hard-hitting investigations, campaigning, and advocacy, we have catalysed change across the world to challenge the systems that enable these harms.

Our work is needed now more than ever.

We are facing a crisis: the climate is being destroyed and civic freedoms are deteriorating.  Rampant abuse of power is pushing the world to breaking point as Governments and Big Corporations all too often go unchecked in their exploitation of our planet and its people.

For us to succeed, we need to embody the principles we fight for. We continue to strive for greater cohesion, solidarity, and inclusion internally and across civil society. We stay ahead of the curve by learning from allies and other social and political movements that share our mission.

Only together can we protect one another and the planet to build a better, more just future.

About the role

We’re excited to be hiring a Campaigner for our UK office to work on our Gas campaign which will focus on delivering research, investigations, and communications to change the perception of gas and the gas industry.

About you

Your experience in undertaking factual analysis, evidence gathering and other research techniques will contribute to supporting us to achieve the goals of the Gas campaign. You will be confident in influencing a range of internal and external stakeholders through your work.

You will have an affinity to Global Witness’ values and objectives and be a great team player. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and allies is critical in this role, so you must thrive in an environment where you frequently work with others to achieve impact.

Working for us

Global Witness has a talented team of people worldwide with offices in London, Washington DC, and Brussels.  We aim to be a diverse and inclusive place to work. We value new perspectives, original ideas and different ways of working. We believe that diverse views and experiences improve the way we do our work. We do our best to make our jobs accessible to all regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation or identity.

We offer an excellent benefits package including a competitive salary and 25 days holiday (exc. Bank holidays), pension, private medical insurance and flexible working arrangements.

This role is based in London and therefore to be considered for this role you must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK. Currently due to COVID, we are working remotely and have the flexibility to do so until the end of 2021.

What we hope you’ll do next

Please send in your CV (max 2 sides) and a one page cover letter clearly outlining how you meet the Person Specification  by 5pm 7 June 2021.

Please use the following in the subject heading of the email: Campaigner – Gas, and please use the following file name protocol for your CV and cover letter: First Name_Last Name_CV and First Name_Last Name_CoverLetter.

If you have a disability and would prefer to apply in a different format or would like us to make any reasonable adjustments to enable you to apply or attend any interview please let us know.

Company

We want justice for those disproportionately affected by the climate crisis: people in the global south, indigenous communities and communities of colour, women and younger generations. We want corporations to respect the planet and human rights, governments to protect and listen to their citizens, and the online world to be free from misinformation and hate.
