About us:

Amey Consulting Scotland have design hubs in both Glasgow and Edinburgh, providing a unique opportunity to be involved in a range of schemes from inception through to construction. We deliver projects throughout Scotland and further afield from bridge inspections to the design, construction, and maintenance of nationally significant road schemes.

Our teams work on both major design projects and local network improvements and undertake services on national to local frameworks, including those with Transport Scotland (NNC SW, TSOISC and A96 contracts) as well as professional services provision to Scottish local authorities.

The role:

Due to increased workload we are seeking to recruit a Senior Lighting / Electrical Engineer. The successful candidate will support our continued growth and increasing workload through the production of lighting / electrical designs and provide a unique chance to join a highly skilled highways design team.

Being an experienced Senior Lighting or Electrical Engineer at Amey Consulting, you'll have the chance to focus on the parts of your role you most enjoy. In a typical week you will be tasked with:

  • Develop designs in accordance with the client's requirements and relevant design standards
  • Represent the business stream in multi-disciplined project teams
  • Prepare and check the feasibility studies, appraisal, and assessment reports
  • Development of engineering solutions and presentation of engineering options
  • Produce and check design concepts, design details, drawing specifications and other technical documents
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the budget for projects including the planning, monitoring, and reporting of project resources
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the client and other relevant stakeholders

We want to hear from you if

  • You have a Degree in Electrical Engineering or an HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering plus professional experience demonstrating a high level of technical competency
  • Registered full Member of the Institution of Lighting Professionals or Institution of Engineering and Technology
  • You have Chartered or Incorporated status registered with Engineering Council
  • You have achieved ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma or its predecessor
  • You are experienced in the use of BS 7671 (17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations)
  • You can demonstrate developed experience and expertise within the lighting and electrical technical field
  • You can demonstrate an ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements
  • You are experienced in undertaking project related tasks associated with health, safety, and welfare, e.g. Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
  • You are experienced in the application of technical governance procedures within a consulting engineering environment
  • You are proficient in discipline design software particularly AutoCAD, Lighting Reality and electrical cable calculation software
