Job Details

Nest is the National Employment Savings Trust. It was set up by the government to give every worker in the UK somewhere to save for retirement. We’ve since grown to become one of the UK’s largest schemes.

To best serve our diverse customer base, it’s important that Nest has an equally diverse workforce and promotes an inclusive culture. This is in line with the organisation’s values and ensures that Nest is a corporation fit for the future.

Your new team:

Nest is on a path to use its data to drive decision making, and we’re just at the beginning of the journey. The new Data & Analytics directorate is leading how we do it, working across the organisation because data is a team sport – if we’re going to be successful, we need to make sure that our data delivers what the organisation needs. We work closely with TCS to deliver what the organisation needs right now, and we’re also part of the team that is working with Atos on designing the future.

The directorate includes:

Business Intelligence (was Scheme MI) – with a plan to get our data and analysis out to the organisation through a new business intelligence hub on Penny, with data from TCS & Atos and across the organisation. The BI team start with the data at source and deliver lovely data visualisation to make data intuitive to understand.

Data management – building a plan for how we manage our data as an enterprise, not in silos

Insight management – working with Atos to make sure the right data & insight flows between the organisations

Data strategy – working on Nest’s data literacy, data governance, and a strategy for how we can all collaborate to make our data a useful shared asset for Nest

If you love data, and you’d like to help us on this journey, you’re exactly what we’re looking for. Come and join us.

Your new role:

This position will allow you to develop and showcase your knowledge of the work of the team combined with the needs of our stakeholders to enable us to bridge the gap between the directorate and the business, ensuring we deliver data, BI and analytics solutions and tangible outcomes which add real value. The work will also involve leading and supporting projects.

There is no line management or budgetary responsibility. However, on certain projects, you may be required to matrix manage the time and input of colleagues.

This reports to the Head of Scheme MI & Analytics.

What you’ll need to succeed:

You’ll be able to keep abreast of industry (BI and pensions) developments which might inform the work of the directorate to dealing with complex projects and identifying changes and areas of improvement where needed; you will be a trusted advisor to the business.

You’ll need strong stakeholder management experience and a knowledge of data & BI work.  Strong communication skills are an absolute must for this role also.

Company

NEST is a great UK success story.

Established in 2010, NEST is a critical pillar of the Government’s automatic enrolment programme, with a public service obligation (PSO) to accept any employer wishing to use the scheme to discharge their automatic enrolment duties.   From a standing start, we have delivered a high quality, low cost pension scheme open to all, which has not only delivered on its mission, but has also helped to drive up standards and best practice across the industry. Now with over 6 million members and well over half a million participating employers, NEST is playing a critical role in helping people save for their retirement - many of them low to moderate earners who may be saving for the first time, and moving jobs frequently.   NEST now occupies an important place in the pensions market and will deliver high quality pensions to mass market consumers for many years to come, leveraging its scale to deliver value through the combination of low costs, market leading investment solutions and modernised services all overseen by strong Trustee governance.
