Strategy Development Manager
We are looking for a passionate and energetic Local Authority Strategy Development Manager
You will be working for an iconic and dynamic charity, providing first-class solutions to environmental challenges. For more than 60 years, they have campaigned for cleaner, greener places and delivered programmes aimed at encouraging organisations and individuals to reduce their environmental impact. The work of the charity has never been more informed, important and urgent.
Position: Local Authority Strategy Development Manager
Location: London Office (with travel throughout England) with the flexibility to work remotely part of the time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (30 hours per week will be considered and/or with flexible working arrangements).
Salary: £40,000 per annum (pro-rata for 30 hours)
Contract: Permanent

About the role:
This is a great opportunity to work in a dynamic team delivering an exciting portfolio of work and across a leading environmental charity delivering real change. As Local Authority Strategy Development Manager you will develop and deliver support to local authorities to develop litter, fly tipping and waste related strategies utilising best possible available data and the organisation’s expertise and insights. You will work with the Director to secure new programmes of work with local authorities to support them in prevent litter, reduce waste and improve local environmental quality.
About you:
We are looking for someone who has experience of developing strategies, building relationships with senior local authority stakeholders and who is passionate about evidence-based practice and can enthuse others in the implementation of new approaches.
You will be passionate and energetic individual and a self-starter and keen to help others learn from the charity’s knowledge and research. You will bring with you the following skills and experience:
- Significant experience of working for or directly with local authorities in the development of strategies or substantial service plans.
- A track-record of building and maintaining relationships with senior stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience of writing project proposals and reports
- A high level of computer literacy in using standard Microsoft packages
Ideally you will have a knowledge and understanding of sustainability, waste and recycling and/or local environmental quality issues, as well as local strategy development including the role of quality data.
