What is the purpose of this role?

The post holder will be responsible for daily education and engagement tasks across the Island, delivering community educational workshops, household visits, and for the delivery of Amey's schools education programme. In addition the CESO will also play a key role in the development of exciting and innovative communication projects and schemes, shaping and evolving educational materials and hosting talks and workshops at the Isle of Wight Waste Recovery Park Education Centre. The CESO post-holder will also help organise open days and special events and will provide administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the Communications and Engagement Department and the provision of a responsive and welcoming service for the wider community.

What will this role involve?

* Lead visits and talks at the education centre (upon completion) * Provide waste and recycling education to members of the public including door to door, telephone, virtually and at community events * Visit properties and undertake education where appropriate * Proactively plan visits and educational/engagement activities to help increase recycling rates * Lead talks in community and school settings and virtually using appropriate platforms * Speak to members of the public and organisations when required * Support with the administration of customer feedback including compliments and the writing of complaint responses and contact with members of the public * Support corporate projects and campaigns on recycling and waste management where necessary * Attend main Isle of Wight events to provide education when necessary * Occasional weekend and evening work * Develop and run education programmes and activities to fulfil National Curriculum requirements * Attend internal and external meetings representing Amey on behalf of the Department Manager when required * Liaise with teachers before children arrive at the Education Centre to ensure that presentation material is meaningful and will add value to lessons and learning * Work with the Communications and Engagement Manager to promote the Education Centre; develop and improve the educational resources and display material for the Centre and assist with work for all partnership councils to help organise campaigns, open days and other events including promotions, assisting when necessary with the events themselves * Develop and maintain a comprehensive library * Develop and maintain a database of education and training provision evaluations (including feedback from users) and other quality indicators to measure the performance of the Centre; * Ensure conference rooms and all equipment are kept in good order and that all equipment is functioning correctly; prepare equipment for education and training sessions and ensure appropriate Education Centre stationery is appropriately stocked * Visit schools and other interested groups to deliver talks or assemblies * Use intelligence led data from collection rounds to target specific educational activities in areas where poor or incorrect waste management is identified

What are we looking for?

* Driving license essential * Confidence when speaking in public and able to deliver educational sessions * Good customer service skills * Experience in a similar role and passionate about educating * Required to be DBS checked (previously known as a CRB check) * Access to personal vehicle if needed
