Procurement Lead

We have an excellent opportunity for a proactive and flexible Procurement Lead to support the Head of Procurement in the development, implementation and delivery of the charity’s procurement strategy and associated procurement policy.

Position: Procurement Lead

Location: Sidmouth, initially home working, then flexibility for home/office working

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £44,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Benefits: Generous annual leave, pension scheme, Healthshield plan, confidential counselling service, subsidised restaurant, free parking, enhanced maternity/paternity benefits, Life Assurance Scheme, 31 day’s holiday per year, inclusive of the 8 statutory public holidays. This increases by one day each year until a maximum of 34 days is reached.

The Role

The Procurement Department works to ensure that the charity makes the best use of its resources by seeking value for money on ethical and sustainable third party spend, offering strategic advice and guidance on purchasing and supply issues, managing supply risk and providing operational support. Working with a network of UK and internationally based suppliers covering such diverse categories of spend as animal welfare, feed and veterinary supplies; utilities, building and facilities management products and services; capital equipment and projects; marketing and communication services and IT and telecoms, general administration and professional services.

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Overall responsibility for the delivery of all strategic and transactional procurement
  • Develop and deliver a portfolio of procurement strategies within your business area
  • Forge, develop and nurture excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Facilitate key internal stakeholders’ understanding of procurement strategy and policies
  • Line management responsibilities

 

About You

As Procurement Lead, you will ideally be a full member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (or working towards achieving full membership), with working experience of strategic procurement, sourcing, category management and managing the end-to-end procurement cycle,

You will have knowledge and experience of:

 

  • Applying procurement and organisational policy objectives during the strategic sourcing process
  • Incorporating cost, quality, ethical and sustainability considerations in to procurement decisions
  • Supplier markets and a working knowledge of legal terminology and language related to supplier agreements and contracts
