Commercial Banking Markets Valuations is an independent team, working closely with the Business, Market Risk. Model Validation, GCT and other Finance functions. The Markets Trading business operates as the Group's face to global financial markets including Money Markets, Foreign Exchange, Bond and Derivatives trading.

The Valuations team has a wide remit with a detailed understanding of traded products and market risk exposures across the bank. This expertise is primarily employed to assist the Front Office and carry out regulatory reporting and capital requirements as well as to improve valuation techniques, assessment and control across the Group.

 

What will you be doing?

You'll enhance your experience in financial markets, and further your product knowledge whilst develop a specialist understanding of Derivatives Fair Value techniques across a diverse set of asset classes. You'll also be responsible for Independent price verification ("IPV") of all pricing parameters used in the production of IPV reporting.

 

Additionally you'll;

  • Own production and oversight of IPV activities - clearly demonstrate a strong Control environment and being empowered to improve and simplify approaches and processes.

  • Write and present commentary on results, trends and observations to Trading, Market Risk Management and Finance therefore demonstrating a deep and commercial view of the drivers of fair value.

  • Build and nurture relationships with a wide and diverse network of partners to support the provision of quality and timely information and analysis delivering customer centric products. Handle senior partners as required.

  • Be supporting Senior Manager and Head of IPV in numerous tasks, including ad-hoc activities related to new products, regulatory change and market movements

  • We work in a collaborative team embedded in the CB finance matrix - including learning from daily interaction with the Group valuation subject matter specialists, thereby developing strong influencing skills and relationships.

  • We offer the opportunity to further develop deep and valuable product knowledge, particularly around derivatives and fixed income exposures such as bonds and structured transactions.

  • Develop a commercial understanding of the Products, Businesses and Risks associated with Fair Value products. This role will provide the valuable building blocks around understanding pricing and valuation, skillsets which are highly regarded and transferable to other roles across Finance, Risk and Front Office.

  • Build the skills and understanding of the controls & governance requirements for a bank operating in the financial markets.

 

About you;

  • Experience in a derivatives' role, either Finance or Risk, would be a requirement.

  • Self-starter who is proactive and self-motivated.

  • Experience of Derivative valuations will be a strong advantage.

  • Great teammate with a collaborative working style.

  • Able to deliver to timelines with some time pressure.

  • A clear communicator who is able to talk through detail, but is also able to summarise key information for senior partners.

 

Qualification, Certification and Education:

Finance qualification(s) are desirable (i.e. ACCA, CFA, CIMA, IMC, ACT). This is an opportunity to become a recognised subject matter authority in IPV across CB and GCT products. Specific knowledge of methodology around Derivative products (including xVAs) would be a strong advantage.
