Support Coordinator

This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following stroke. We’re looking for innovative, passionate and professional coordinators with excellent communication and organisational skills to join the Stroke Recovery Service based across the Cumbria region.

Position: Stroke Support Coordinator

Location: Home Based, Cumbria with regular travel across the South Cumbria area

Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week

Salary: Circa £13,860 per annum (full-time equivalent £23,100)

Contract: This is a fixed term maternity cover contract until 14 November 2022. Services are contracted and there is currently funding for this contract until 31 March 2023

The Role

The service aims to identify and address the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway, by providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes.

A key part of the role will be to recruit, train and manage a team of volunteers, to support service users and the delivery of the service.

Reporting to the Service Delivery Coach, the Stroke Support Coordinator will:

• Support new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community. This includes individual and group support.
• Provide personalised information, advice and support.
• Support people affected by stroke to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes
• Be accountable for volunteers, so experience of recruiting, training and managing volunteers would be an advantage.

About You

The Stroke Support Coordinator will have experience/background in:

• A caring profession ideally with experience of supporting people with disabilities.
• Setting up and running support groups.
• Be confident in using IT and have a flexible attitude to the role.
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and able to work as part of a team.

The use of a car with business use cover and the ability to drive is essential to be able to fulfil the requirements of the role.
