The Role

Within the Secure Infrastructure Business Unit of Amey we are looking to hire a IT Pre Sales/Solutions Lead to join the Business Growth function and work on a range of public sector bids. You will lead and manage the IT solutions for our clients.

Experience in IT pre-sales alongside facilities management experience would be very beneficial.

The bid values can range from £5m PA to £150m PA.

The role can be undertaken remotely, and we offer a very flexible approach, with travel requirements likely to be Birmingham/London/Cardiff post current restrictions.


  • To be the Subject Matter Expert for IT, technology and innovation for Secure Infrastructure
  • Identify and exploit opportunities to develop innovative and improved solutions, in response to market changes, future customer needs or identification of best practice within Amey
  • Lead the solution development process, and team where required, for individual bids, including:
    • Lead the analysis of client requirements and data, including due diligence and clarification, to ensure understanding
    • Lead development of supply chain and teaming requirements
    • Work with estimators to ensure solutions are priced accurately and effectively and ensure that the commercial offering is in line with the technical solution.
    • Manage the risk and opportunities process for the solution
    • Produce high quality written bid deliverables as required
  • Act as the IT and Innovation subject matter expert in opportunity capture and bidding, and the focal point for liaising with the operational delivery teams, including Amey Group IT, on IT and Innovation matters
  • Determine the most appropriate route for Amey to support and achieve industrialisation of developing innovative products, technologies and services
  • Develop a network of contacts within the innovation ecosystem, foster suitable partnerships, and support creation of collaboration agreements to support the commercialisation of innovation
  • Contribute to continuous development of the end-to-end solution development/architecture process for designing, building and mobilising customer solutions as part of the Business Growth Function
  • Work with the Capture Lead / Head of Bidding / Bid Lead / Amey Group IT / CAFM Supplier to plan, manage and identify resource requirements for bids specifically those allocated to deliver the operational/technical solution
  • Ensure lessons learnt and best practice reviews are conducted to drive continual improvement, develop bidding strategies and promote innovation in the bid management community
  • Engage business unit stakeholders on IT capabilities that will improve safety, quality and cost of services; be an advocate for IT for where new capabilities need to be developed to meet current and future needs - Horizon scanning.


  • Good technical and operational understanding of IT and innovation within FM, maybe with a specialism
  • Experience of the solution development/bid process in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of commercial requirements including cost planning, estimating and managing risk.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant legal, regulatory and commercial environments
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills at all levels, and verbal and written communication.
  • Able to embrace change and drive continual improvement and leverage Business Unit and Amey-wide strengths.
  • Flexible, agile, accountable, courageous, hands-on, adaptable, has presence, wins respect and has a sense of fun.
