Communications Officer

We are looking for a passionate and energetic Communications Officer to act as the first port of call for the many hundreds of people who contact the charity each year.

You will be working for an iconic and dynamic charity, providing first-class solutions to environmental challenges. For more than 60 years, they have campaigned for cleaner, greener places and delivered programmes aimed at encouraging organisations and individuals to reduce their environmental impact. The work of the charity has never been more informed, important and urgent.

Position: Communications Officer

Location: Wigan or London (with the ability to work from home as required)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £24,300 (Wigan)/ £26,300 (London) per annum

Contract: Fixed Term Contract for 12 months

About the role:

As the country’s leading anti-litter charity, they work tirelessly to combat waste and neglect and using their world-class research we develop game-changing campaigns and programmes. As Communications Officer you will be the first port of call for the many hundreds of people who contact the charity each year and will act as a bridge between public-facing channels and teams across the charity. In addition, you will generate copy for the website and support the Director of Communications with both internal communications and media work, including drafting press releases and briefing documents and supporting the charity’s press office function

About you:

We are looking for someone who is comfortable dealing with the public and can grasp the complexities of the charity and communicate it externally in a simple and accessible way. You will have experience of using a CRM system as a means of managing customers and stakeholders.

A passionate and genuine self-starter, you will possess knowledge and understanding of communications and press office functions and have excellent copy-writing skills and experience in a similar role.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about the environment and keen to make a difference in line with the charity’s objectives.
