Job description

The Head of Group will lead key operational teams to deliver excellent customer service as well as setting the direction and driving the delivery of the Operational and Customer Services Directorate’s targets and Key Performance Indicators.

This is an exciting time to join the DVLA and an opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role as it continues to modernise and transform, ensuring it continues to provide excellent services to our nation.

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is responsible for maintaining the registration and licensing of drivers in Great Britain as well as maintaining the registration and licensing of vehicles, together with the collection and enforcement of VED, in the UK. Based in Swansea, they hold more than 49 million driver records, around 40 million vehicle records and collect around £7 billion a year in vehicle excise duty (VED). Opened for business 50 years ago after taking over responsibility from the local authorities, they are one of the largest employers in South Wales with over 5,000 staff.
 

Responsibilities

Key accountabilities of the role include:

• Lead the Group to:

- Achieve key performance targets and quality standards
- Achieve internal targets and standards
- Continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Effectively manage risks
- Deliver Change across the Agency

• Contribute to the Agency’s strategic business planning process by developing the Groups Key priorities and setting the performance and quality standards. Ensuring the effective management all resources based on robust business intelligence.

• To promote and maintain good working relationships with a broad range of key stakeholders internally and externally including the Trade Union.

As a confident and collaborative delivery professional, you will have large scale operational leadership experience in a fast-paced environment and a successful track record of leading a comparable size business through structural and cultural change. Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles, and will assess your Behaviours, Strengths and Experience.
