We are recruiting for a talented Management Accountant to join our company. This fixed term position will sit within our Utilities business which is going through some very exciting & positive changes.

Reporting to a Finance Manager within the Utilities division, you'll provide a management accounting service across a range of large UK civil engineering, construction and maintenance capital projects with clients including Scottish Water.

The role will be a hybrid role with time spent in the office and working from home. The role will either be based in Chorley or Motherwell (Scotland). If the role is Chorley then travel to Scotland will be required.

What does this role involve?

  • Produce accurate monthly accounts, cost packs and profit centre reports to Group deadlines.
  • Produce, develop, and post journals for all accruals and prepayments.
  • Provide insight and explain variances between Actuals, Budgets and Forecasts.
  • Report and produce on Balance Sheet reconciliations identifying any Risks and Opportunities.
  • Lead in monthly P&L and Balance Sheet calls.
  • Proactively identify and help drive performance improvements across our long term contracts.
  • Work closely with Finance Business Partnering and Commercial teams and become point of contact for all finance related queries.
  • Any other ad-hoc projects required by the business.

What are we looking for?

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA part qualified or qualified
  • Strong IT skills including good knowledge of ERP system (SAP/Oracle), Microsoft Excel and Business forecasting tools (ie BPC).
  • Previous Management Accountancy experience in a similar environment.
  • Experience of outsourced service industries or construction preferable.
  • Experience working to tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high degree of quality and detail.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and internal support functions.
  • Experience working within a team environment with some direct or indirect staff supervisory experience.
