Assistant Chef - Part Time

Skelton Court, Leicester

GBP9.45 per hour (rising to GBP9.74 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)

14 hours per week - shifts are 10am to 5pm

We are seeking an Assistant Chef to make a real difference to the lives of our residents. Located in a quiet, residential area on the outskirts of Leicester, Skelton Court is a residential care home. We provide expert care and support for 15 adults aged 18 or over, who have a range of learning disabilities and complex or high needs, including dementia.

Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, open manner is essential for success in this role. If you want to make a positive impact to people's lives, this is a rewarding opportunity to come and work within an established and experienced team.

The role of Assistant Chef will include:

Assisting with the planning and creation of nutritionally balanced meals for our clients
Promoting and monitoring food hygiene and safety standards
Maintaining current risk assessments and cleaning the kitchen to a high standard
Ability to work alone, in absence of Chef Manager
Ordering stock and receiving deliveries for the service
Facilitating cook and eat sessions with our clients
Monthly stock takes, and a basic knowledge of HCAPP
A willing to learn about modified diets, food allergies and health related meal planning

Skills and experiences:

Level 2 Diploma in Catering and Hospitality, or knowledge at an equivalent level
Previous experience of working in a catering environment is required
A valid Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is essential
Proven knowledge of health and safety procedures and operation of catering equipment is essential
Friendly and approachable attitude with the ability to interact with our residents, visitors and colleagues
