Reporting to the Director of Acquisitions, Cinema, the Head of Acquisitions, Sky Store and Strategic Projects, will have commercial competence, have in-depth knowledge of the international market, an excellent understanding of the evolving Transactional landscape and a deep programming knowledge. Solutions focussed, the HOA must be able to thrive within a busy team, often leading complex negotiations on behalf of Sky with external rights holders. S/he should be capable of representing the team within Sky and in external meetings and contributing at a senior level.

This role requires a comprehensive understanding of Sky's rights needs as a platform, broadcaster and distributor of content.

What you'll do:
  • Reporting to Director of Acquisitions, Cinema, take responsibility for the day to day leadership of acquisition activity across the Sky Store service, including line management responsibilities, where appropriate
  • Provide leadership and vision for the Sky Store acquisition strategy, developing and maintaining internal relationships with the Store team and across Sky
  • Source and acquire appropriate content and rights for the Sky Store proposition always future proofing the overall transactional strategy and for of the business.
  • Work closely with core Sky Store team and content partners to agree / create promotional offers / incentives to drive uptake and maximise profitability of Sky Store
  • Advise on and take responsibility for the delivery of special Strategic Projects within the Acquisitions department (both Movies and Series) as part of the Senior Acquisitions Management team e.g. leading complex movie or series Output deals or other Sky initiatives
  • Work closely with Sky's Legal department in preparing, agreeing and managing appropriate contracts for acquired content, with an eye to resource being used effectively across the team
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of technological developments as regards Sky's platforms and in the wider media landscape
  • Attend programme markets and conferences as required
  • Deputise for the Director of Acquisitions, Cinema in their absence when appropriate and to work closely with the rest of the acquisitions team, giving guidance, coaching, mentoring when required
  • To follow Sky's health and safety policies and procedures; report any safety issues to line management; and participate in Sky's objective to be a safe and healthy workplace
What you'll bring:
  • Senior leader with real drive and passion for film and TV
  • Extensive negotiating experience, demonstrable commercial competence and a proactive, creative approach to problem-solving
  • Established relationships with key suppliers within the industry, including the US studios and experience working in European and International markets
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an interest in working collaboratively in a dynamic Acquisitions/Transactional environment
  • Extensive understanding of the mechanics of content acquisition deals and in-depth understanding of programming licensing and tranastional rights
  • Leadership skills gained at a senior organisational level -with the ability to encourage and motivate a team
  • Broadcasting experience at a senior level, ideally gained within a PayTV/SVOD environment
