Location
Swansea - DVLA supports flexible working, and as an IT department we are currently working from home. We are working towards introducing a hybrid model, under which working arrangements will be driven by the requirements of your role in agreement with your line manager. However, there will be a requirement for our Engineers to work on site as and when required.

Job description
We are looking for Platform Shift Engineers to help build world class digital services; you'll be part of a team delivering both change and service excellence. You will be supporting programmes that help migrate legacy technology onto newer, cloud-based platforms shaping and delivering numerous projects of varying size, risk and complexity - paving the way for the future business and service transformation.
Our services have reach into every household in the UK, the size and scale would be the envy of any UK ecommerce service provider - a fabulous opportunity to make a difference.
Candidates are required to be available on a rota basis to undertake out of hours activities and on call cover to support delivery of the service and work within a shift system covering 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. An indicative shift allowance of 35% is applicable.

Responsibilities
You will have the opportunity to:

• Take responsibility for large and small changes – including building and designing components, platforms and tools

About You
The ideal candidate would need to be an excellent communicator, able to collaborate with colleagues and customers. Technically you would have worked with a range of systems including AIX, Linux and Wintel, and are able to work within a technical framework. You will also need to be able to demonstrate evidence of diagnosing and resolving problems and escalated customer issues. You would also be able to evidence defining and implementing technical best practice.
