Project Planner

We currently have a vacancy for a Project Planner at our Portsmouth Naval Base. As a Project Planner, you will be working as part of Warship Support and the Type 45 upkeep projects. You will be responsible for the development & definition of Level 1 - 3 schedules from Statement of Work (SOW)/Project Control Account (CA) requirements aligning to the Work Breakdown Structure.

Your main responsibilities as a Project Planner will involve:

  • Using MSP, you will create a project plan for the delivery of the ship repair project. You will assist the Project management team in understanding and breaking down the scope and then creating a fully resourced plan, using functional processes. You will then be responsible for maintaining the plan in-line with the Project drumbeat, including progress updates and implementing changes.
  • You will also work closely with the Project Control team with using the plan to provide information for project reporting; including EVM and Schedule Risk management.
  • You will liaise with the delivery teams to validate, advise and challenge progress and completion forecasts, identifying schedule risk and required enablers.

Your skills and qualifications:

  • Comprehensive understanding of Planning Tools, Structures and principles and other Integrated Business Systems (IBS)
  • Advanced IT skills and proficiency in the use of appropriate packages; Microsoft Project and SAP
  • Extensive Planning experience desired, or demonstrated skills

What we're looking for in you:

You should be a good communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders through effective communication and clear presentation of data. Having Microsoft Project and SAP qualifications to evidence proficiency would be advantageous.
