Job Title: Support Worker -Skin Cancer & Sarcoma

Department: Oncology/Plastics

Working pattern: 18.75 hours per week: Permanent Post.

Job Type : 0.5 WTE

Pay Band AFC Band 4.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Skin Cancer & Sarcoma Nursing Teams & wider multidisciplinary teams within University Hospitals Plymouth. The post holder will play an integral part in supporting those affected by a diagnosis of skin cancer/sarcoma at various stages of their treatment pathway and will be pivotal in delivering the Personal Care in Cancer programme. The successful applicant will be required to work closely with our Support Specialists and the Clinical Nurse Specialist teams. They will provide support and guidance to our patients, signposting to external organisations as appropriate. They will therefore need to have an understanding of the issues faced by those with a cancer diagnosis. The individual will require excellent communication and organisational skills to ensure the efficient channelling and close co-ordination of the patient pathway ensuring robust communication between Mustard Tree staff, Clinical Nurse Specialists, medical staff, GPs, patients, relatives, members of the public and other disciplines within the Trust. Previous NHS experience is desirable but not essential as full training and support will be given. Skills in data collection & database management are desirable, as there will be requirement to provide administrational duties for wider aspects of cancer care, which will benefit patients.
