Contract

You will be responsible for carrying out operational activities supporting Next’s IT infrastructure Instore engineering team. This is a field service role and will involve travelling to stores throughout the UK. There will also be day to day support work in our workshops and offices at Dearne Valley.

Please note that the interview process will consist of a technical test and an interview(s).

About the role

The Infrastructure and cloud Instore engineering team are responsible for a wide range of technologies used mainly within our stores. This includes most of the hardware installed in the store:

Till EPOS systems, Back office systems, Domain servers, network switches, WIFI in stores, various tablet devices.

An engineer would be expected to install and support all these devices and the software running on them.

There will also be an element of workshop duties, prepping and repairing equipment, supporting stores and rollouts remotely when required.

Responsibilities Also Include:

  • Incident \ Request Management – Resolve all tickets assigned to our team/individuals in a prompt and timely fashion. Change Management – Raise requests for change to carry out routine maintenance, best practice changes, software updates, configuration changes etc.(once competent in your role). Opening new stores. Managing store refits. Closing existing stores. Hardware maintenance in stores. Project Support – Work with our team to install and upgrade existing and new technologies, help plan rollouts. Technical Documentation – Provide documentation where appropriate. Head office support – Support HO systems when required, including site visits. Remote support of stores and their networks. Third party support to companies employed by next to support the stores. Supporting various head office departments.


Criteria

Essential

 

  • Talent for solving problems Computer literate Ability to plan and prioritise a busy workload Proven 3rd line support experience A strong technical background Some knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 / 2012 / 2016 Some knowledge of EPOS systems.


Desirable

  • Google, including sheets, documents, emails etc. MS word and excel Cisco networks experience PC hardware support/maintenance System Centre (SCCM, SCOM)
