Job Description

Primary role purpose:

The primary purpose of the position is to coordinate and support planned and unplanned activities of one or more of Inmarsat's billing system(s), making sure system’s configuration and recent changes operate effectively in processing of data, and achieve defined standards of quality and timeliness. The position-holder is the primary point of contact for Inmarsat’s billing ops activities, and is a source of subject matter expertise in case enhancements are required. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and coordinate the monthly billing cycle, including capture of adjustments, basic analytic reviews, and the interface of data to the financial system
  • Maintain Lease space segment configuration data for customers in the billing system in a timely manner
  • Ensure that the required quality standards are met, by operating effective control’s procedures.  Achieve compliance with internal and external audit requirements
  • Support the evolution of Inmarsat's commercial pricing and updating tariffs and other key reference data to introduce new prices and maintain existing ones when required
  • 2nd line support (1st line being a dispute research team) to investigate, resolve and respond to queries from Distribution Partners (Wholesale Customers) and other parties
  • Support Revenue Assurance in monitoring usage in suspense and resolve and rerate common errors
  • Create Change Requests for L2 Support or update Customer service instance data in the billing system accurately
  • Train and hand over billing ops activities to new members and prepare work instructions
  • Being actively involved in Continuous Improvement and suggest an initiate small-scale CI efforts
  • Notify the Team Lead of any new or recurring provisions/accruals for review

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Good standard of written English; ability to prepare concise written summaries when required
  • Good standard of numeracy and an aptitude for working with structured data in an analytic way
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision using own initiative to improve procedures
  • Reasonable working knowledge of standard office automation software: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with the other members of the billing team, with other Inmarsat staff, and with external contacts as required
  • Ability to quickly absorb new learning experiences and to deploy new knowledge quickly and effectively

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Reasonable understanding or appreciation of high-transaction volume business systems
  • Basic knowledge of SQL, preferable in an Oracle environment
  • Experience in a similar role in a mobile/telecommunications operator
  • Experience in User Acceptance Testing
