Project Manager

Would you like to deliver business and enterprise IT Projects into the UK's Leading Defence Companies? We currently have a vacancy for a Project Manager at our site in Preston.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering small to medium business and enterprise IT projects to cost, timescale, quality and customer satisfaction. The projects could include both infrastructure and business applications as well as requiring experience in delivering business change to ensure successful adoption and benefit release. The incumbent will be expected to mobilise, plan and deliver projects whilst adhering to BAE Systems delivery assurance processes, and will be required to collaborate across EITS and within the Projects and Transformation Team (P&T) to address lessons learned, share good practice and continuously improve delivery management.

This role will provide you with opportunity to explore many paths within BAE systems and develop a Project Management career.

Your main responsibilities as a Project Manager will involve:

  • Managing the delivery of the project to time, cost and schedule in line with business success criteria and customer satisfaction and taking action where these deviate from agreed tolerances
  • Adhering to regulatory processes and procedures including BAE Systems project management methodology and life cycle management
  • Collaborating with, and managing 3rd party suppliers to drive successful business outcomes
  • Providing effective leadership to the delivery team, being able to take appropriate action addressing any issues
  • Identifying and managing project level risks, issues, opportunities and dependencies
  • Developing and managing realistic project plans, identifying and recording lessons learned as part of project closure
  • Managing project changes in line with governance and project assurance frameworks, providing effective and appropriate reporting to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Managing business change to ensure successful delivery of business benefits and project outcomes
  • Collaborating with PMO on knowledge transfer, lessons learned to simplify project management processes ensuring compatibility with the concept of continuous improvement across the business

Your skills and qualifications:

  • Demonstratable experience of collaboration and cross functional working
  • Experience of working on enterprise-wide projects and successfully managing suppliers as part of the project delivery team
  • Proficient understanding of project lifecycle management
  • Experience of waterfall and agile project delivery methodologies
  • Experience of working within an environment with mature and established governance practices and processes
  • Proven experience of successfully delivering business outcomes such as business change delivery within the project
  • Familiarity with computer-based Project Management tools including MS Projects, and MS Office etc

You should have the ability to work collaboratively within a team, understanding how the team integrates with other teams in order to achieve objectives. Salary: £40,000+ depending on experience
