Who are Lloyds Banking Group?

As the UK's largest retail and commercial bank, we have a footprint that touches nearly every community and household in the UK. That gives us a big responsibility to support the UK economy, and we have a clear strategy to put customers first and achieve our vision of being the best bank for our customers.

What exactly what I be responsible for?

As a big data engineer you will deliver the highest quality data processing and analytical systems, drawing upon your engineering and coding expertise, whilst being open minded to the opportunities the cloud provides.

You'll also get the opportunity to mentor and support more junior members of the team as we grow.

We like to see people applying from diverse organisational, cultural and technological backgrounds and believe this is critical to success. In terms of minimum criteria we will need to see within your CV when you apply, we require;

  • Prior experience in big data systems (large scale Hadoop, Spark or similar data processing paradigms), and associated data transformation and ETL experience.

  • Big Data experience within Hadoop technologies, in combination with phone of the following coding languages; Java or Scala or Python (not all three!)

  • Experience working at the mid to senior level

  • Good communication and team work skills

We're in the process of migrating to Google Cloud Platform, so you'll get the opportunity to be involved in our move to cloud.

What support will I get and how will my career grow?

As a multi-brand, multi-channel business, we have the scale and breadth to provide you with a diverse range of training and development opportunities, helping you achieve a rewarding and fulfilling career. The sheer size of Lloyds provides many opportunities.

Company

We’re creating an organisation that attracts, retains and develops the best talent in the industry, and one that openly embraces diversity too. But more than that – we want to be a great place to work. We invest in our people, offering the best training and coaching, and by encouraging them to contribute to our leading corporate and social responsibility practices. We offer flexible working hours and days, under our Work Options scheme. This means that you can have a challenging and rewarding career, and still have an ideal work/life balance.

Flexible working is at the heart of our strategy. We’re re-imagining where, when, and how our people work, with new approaches designed to meet the ever-changing needs of customers and colleagues. These include increasing our use of remote-working tools and technology, as well as placing less reliance on a 9-to-5 mindset. For many of our office-based colleagues, we work in hybrid ways which involves spending at least two days per week or 40% of their time at one of our office sites.
