Job Details

Lloyds Banking Group is the UK's biggest Retail, Digital and Mobile bank with over 30 million customers and a big responsibility to help Britain Prosper.

We're in the middle of a £3bn investment into our People, Platforms and Data - with a Software Engineering led approach, all as part of our strategy to become the best bank for customers.

And it's the role of our Chief Information Office (CIO) who provide the backbone and infrastructure upon which this bank of the future will sit.

We're growing our Infrastructure Engineering teams to support a number of these strategic transformational initiatives led by our Group Transformation area.

And you could help them make it possible...

As one of our Infrastructure Engineers you'll act as the primary CIO point of contact for infrastructure solution's delivery for an aligned Group Transformation Lab or project and work for a senior "Value Stream Connector" (VSC) colleague. Accountable for the systems integration of infrastructure solutions to time and quality standards you'll deliver key Value Stream aligned objectives without impacting on the service.

What would you be doing?

  • We align with an IT team responsible for a banking product or service, where we work proactively to influence their strategy, whilst translating their business requirements and specifications into infrastructure designs; exploring delivery options, documenting decisions, and iterating ideas as you go

  • Providing consultancy and cost estimates, to ensure your business can budget accordingly and make informed strategic decisions

  • Using your experience of leading Suppliers, SMEs, and Supply Lines to write work packages that are clear, understood and delivered on time

You'll be taking a lead in all aspects of infrastructure throughout the delivery lifecycle, including:

  • Working with PMs and Delivery Leads to formulate plans and understand costs

  • Engaging suppliers and internal delivery teams

  • Coordinating build activities with internal or 3rd party service providers

  • Supporting through testing cycles

  • Collaborating with service owners to ensure systems are properly tested and supported following go-live

  • When things go-wrong (!), or requirements change we proactively lead delivery resources to facilitate recovery

And beyond the technical elements, we...

  • Are responsible for ensuring that the design is implemented by providing technical leadership in support of projects and initiatives

  • Produce cost estimates for infrastructure change to support budgetary planning.

  • Provide demand planning forecasts for internal and 3rd party resources to reduce risk of supply.

So what about your Infrastructure skills?

We'd be looking for varying levels of experience across the following areas:

  • Experienced in the design/architecture of infrastructure solutions in a large-scale enterprise environment, e.g., IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Middleware, Storage, Network and Databases.

  • Skilled at producing quality concise design documentation, with an emphasis on decisions and diagrams necessary to mobilise delivery

  • Hands-On experience of end-to-end project delivery, working with Agile (Scrum) and Waterfall delivery models including modern software development and deployment practices

  • Understanding of building applications through containerised microservices-based architectures, with a working understanding of cloud methodologies

And what about you?

  • Whilst skills, knowledge and prior experience are meaningful to us we want people who are highly motivated, and hardworking with an inquisitive and curious approach to work.

  • We keep our group values of Keeping it Simple, Making a Difference Together and Putting Customers First at the heart of our ethos so you'll be committed to similar values and combine this with a love of learning.

  • We're also a people business and to support these huge technical endeavours you'll need a range of interpersonal skills and take a collaborative approach.

We pride ourselves on crafting a phenomenal environment for colleagues to work in, one which is inclusive and driven by our values. This is essential to our business success as we know that colleagues who can show up to work as themselves are those that bring their best. LBG is an inclusive and open organisation with a scale that builds a vast range of roles and opportunities. We offer a wealth of options for continual personal growth in an organisation that embraces diversity of talent, creativity, skills and thinking among our teams. Agile working is also important so our colleagues can work in the most effective way whilst ensuring they have an exciting career coupled with a healthy work/life balance. It also helps us manage and adapt to the constantly evolving needs of our business and the fast-paced world around us.

Our continued commitment to helping Britain recover means that as a colleague you can make a difference to customers, businesses and communities. Together we have a key role to play in shaping the bank of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll continue to have opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

So what can we offer you in return?

Whatever your aspiration, you can also expect excellent benefits, personal development and a career that's enriching and full of opportunity.

You'll also receive a package that includes:

  • Discretionary bonus

  • Cash sum of 4% which you can exchange for a variety of benefits or simply take the cash

  • Private Medical Insurance

  • Pension, where we'll give up to a max of 15%

  • Share plans

  • 30 days holiday (plus Public)

***This role can be based out of our Bristol, Edinburgh, Halifax, Leeds or London hubs - we're mainly looking for the above skillsets. The broad base salary banding across the UK is from £53,000pa to £80,000pa. Salaries in the London area will be reflected towards the upper end of this bracket***
