Client Details

Leading Surrey based Multi-Academy Trust are looking to recruit for a part time Head of Funding & Income vacancy. You will be responsible for managing the sales and income finance teams, providing development and maintaining a high-quality funding and income service alongside designing efficient systems and processes to report and advise on all funding and income streams, ensuring accuracy of information, audit compliance and maximisation of all cash inflows.

This is a hands-on position, and the successful candidate is expected to work closely with Principals, Directors, Heads of Service and will form part of the Senior Finance Management Team.

Description

Lead, manage and support the Sales Ledger & Income team to ensure a high quality, customer-focused, responsive service that meets the needs of the Trust.

Ensure income streams and funding data is reliable, maximised and up to date, managing quality and assisting decision making, ensuring sufficient supporting documentation exists.

To maintain an expert up to date knowledge of relevant funding policies and regulations for funding streams relevant to both the College and the Academies sectors

Identify and mitigate areas of risk relating to income, funding and funding policy, reporting on these to the CFO/Director of Finance and maintaining a risk register thereon.

To be a member of the Senior Finance Management Team and contribute in relevant meetings; and deliver training to staff

Work collaboratively with the MIS team for the College and equivalent colleagues for the Trust to ensure all funding returns are timely and accurate and attract the maximum entitlement of income, including census returns.

Prepare costings, estimates and calculations as required, presenting findings in an appropriate format and provide advice and guidance to management thereon.

To attend where required relevant Schools Forum, Funding Body meetings and other Local Authority meetings where funding activity impacts. Build strong, collaborative and positive relationships across multiple authorities and agencies.

Participate and drive negotiations with support from the CFO/Director of Finance with commissioners to secure appropriate, fair funding levels for all learners.

To comply with Trust policies and procedures including the College Accounts Direction, Academies Trust Handbook, Finance Regulations, SEND Code of Practice and Funding Agreements.

Maintain and update all policies and procedures relevant to the area of work and continuously adopt best practice guidance.

Oversee an internal audit process to measure the accuracy of data, ensuring systems and processes are in place to generate the evidence required to support audit and funding claims.

Manage and support the Sales & Income team leader to ensure the team are able to respond to changing workloads throughout the academic year and deliver business objectives, including annual appraisal cycle and regular performance management.

Identify and deliver the provision of staff training and continuous professional development.

Ensures the health, safety and wellbeing of all employees in the department. Other Duties

Profile

ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified Accountant

Good understanding of working within the education sector and knowledge of national priorities and issues

Good understanding of Local Authorities funding

Ability to prepare and present financial reports

Experience of managing or supervising a team.

Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels throughout the College/Academy Trust, and evidence of forming strong partnerships with Local Authorities, funding bodies and other agencies.

Strong negotiating skills

Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft packages.

Use of Resource financial package or similar.

Ability to carry out financial monitoring and budget setting.
