Position: Support Assistant and Bank Staff Vacancies

Location: Gloucester

Hours: Various shift patterns available

Salary: £19,305

Contract: Permanent

There are various roles available including both Full time, Part time and also Relief Work (Bank Work) which gives you more flexibility of the days and times you work so is perfect to fit in around other commitments you may have.

Some of the current shifts we have available include

 

  • Support Assistant (Full Time 37.5hrs £19,305pa)
  • Night Assistant (Full Time 37.5hrs £19,305 plus 10% night shift allowance)
  • Relief Work (Bank Work- Flexible hours over 7 day week £9.50ph)
  • Part time roles also available

Every day will present you with new challenges and opportunities. That might mean you’ll assist your customers in days out and social activities, and you will be there as a trusted support.

The organisation was established over 90 years ago and is one of the country’s leading providers of services for people affected by homelessness, which has grown to become a major provider of affordable housing in England and Scotland, with almost 56,000 homes in management and support over 12,000 people every year in the Care and Support services.

Through housing, care and support services the organisation enables people facing a wide variety of challenging circumstances to lead more resilient and independent lives.

Who we’re looking for

This role isn’t for everyone, at times it’s tough. And at others incredibly rewarding. You will need to be resilient, empathetic and able to leave your work at work and not take it home with you.

You’ll be able to use a computer, which will make keeping on top of the admin that much easier.

As a minimum requirement you’ll need:

 

  • An understanding of the varying needs and requirements of the customer groups that you will be supporting
  • To be able to work as part of a team, and communicate clearly
  • A can-do attitude, with the capacity to develop positive working relationships with internal colleagues and external agencies
  • To be flexible, with the ability to work a shift pattern that includes days, nights and weekends

 

Ideally you’ll also have:

 

  • Experience of working with individuals with either learning disabilities or mental health diagnoses in a support environment – though this experience isn’t essential as we can provide full training
  • An understanding of support plans and risk assessments

 

What you’ll get

 

  • 25 days’ holiday, rising to 30 with length of service + 8 bank holidays per year

  • Eye care scheme, £25 towards a test and £50 towards glasses or lenses needed

 

What you’d be a part of

Between April 2019 and March 2020 here are some of the organisations many achievements:

 

  • Every year supported over 12,000 people across the country, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • Supported 3,356 people or households with a projects that are funded by the charity
  • Helped 385 customers develop their employment skills and 238 customers have moved into employment. Also helped 147 into formal training or volunteering and 11 into apprenticeships
  • Through the Ladders of Aspiration funding, helped 138 customers to gain qualifications.
  • Through the Money Advice service there have been 1,346 referrals and helped increase income for customers by £1,162,447
  • Helped support 128 customers facing challenges to live independently and receive support for their needs through our Intensive Intervention scheme.
