You will be reporting to the Head of Architecture within the Content Broadcast and Platforms (CBP) department part of the CTI Engineering unit.

 


What you'll do:

 

* Solution Architecture - Be accountable for the definition of solution designs which balance the needs of the business with the evolution of the technical landscape by:
* Working with business leaders at an ideas stage to ensure they are aware of how technology can help them meet their business challenges, including supporting the product streams in the maintenance and construction of their roadmaps.
* Creating and delivering innovative end-to-end solution designs that are cloud-native, hybrid-cloud, secure, cost-effective, multi-tenant, highly responsive, scalable, highly available, and resilient.
* Ensuring solution designs align with prevailing technology strategy, and the relevant technology and corporate policies (such as cyber security, data management and retention, etc.).
* Technical Leadership - Support delivery teams with aligning to department technical strategy and technical governance processes. You will achieve this by:
* Facilitating the resolution of conflicted architectural decisions and mitigating key technical risks across delivery teams; providing rapid feedback and transparency in the key architectural and technical decisions process.
* Providing expertise on Open-Source tools and systems and thought leadership around DevOps practices.
* Articulating and evangelising the overall mission & vision of the department, and best practices to help spread acceptance within the delivery teams.
* Supporting the definition of guidelines and principles for architecture and solutions design within the department and helping products to deliver within those guidelines and principles.
* Participating as subject matter expert on internal working groups and forums as requested; and maintaining your own personal skills and knowledge in the field of software architecture and design.

 


What you'll bring:

 

* Hands on, demonstrable, experience of defining content Production architectures (including future vision) that deliver all platform aspects of one (or more) of Production Acquisition (live and non-live content), Production Workflow management, Production Archive/Storage and GFX systems.
* Hands on, demonstrable, experience of defining content Origination and Distribution architectures (including future vision) that deliver all platform aspects of one (or more) of feed Contribution, Playout (live and pre-recorded content), and Content Distribution (broadcast and streaming) systems.
* Hands on, demonstrable, experience of defining content Experience and Processing architectures (including future vision) that deliver all platform aspects of one (or more) of Rights, Scheduling & Planning (Linear and VOD), Content Acquisition (source material and finished content), Content Preparation and Content Metadata Syndication systems.
* Extensive demonstrable experience in technology leadership roles within large enterprise media organisations with a focus on video technologies, direct-to-consumer OTT, satellite, and cable distribution, playout, live production, analytics, MAM, content storage and content metadata.
* Hands on, demonstrable experience in designing complex video solutions using cutting edge IT technology and software. This must span the software engineering and systems engineering aspects of the technology, being up to date in the emerging trends as detailed in the Technology and Standards Appendix.
* Deep understanding and delivery experience of building public-cloud and hybrid-cloud compute, containers and serverless architectures.
* Experience of using DevOps software development methods within the IT, Media & Entertainment or Telecoms industries to deliver iterative solutions.
* Demonstrable track record in software engineering working within a software delivery organisation.
