Job Description

Primary role purpose:

As the Corporate Communications Partner – Press & Social Media, you will support the corporate communications function in three primary areas: social media channel management (across mainstream channels, including monitoring and content creation of ), press database management and press distribution (using Cision) and media coverage analysis (using Meltwater).  You will report to the Senior Manager – Corporate Communications.

Social media channel management (approx. 60% of time)

You will create and maintain a strong content strategy and programme to keep our social media channels continuously engaged with our audiences, together with strong social media copywriting and editing skills.  The primary focus will be on what we term “news driven” social media (as differentiated from “marketing driven” social media, which is the responsibility of our Content and Editorial Manager) and will be defined by you with your manager and the Content and Editorial Manager). You will use your expertise to create engaging content that supports the Corporate Communications news strategy for Inmarsat.

In this function, you will also coordinate day-to-day (under the direction of the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications) with the Content and Editorial Manager, with whom you will also coordinate on social media monitoring and analysis.

Additionally, you will be responsible for providing some editorial content for our website, as required.

Working within the corporate communications team, you will work closely with the business unit marketing teams to ensure that they are providing ongoing content for the market-specific social channels. This could include briefing writers, reviewing and editing Inmarsat and partner generated content for Inmarsat’s corporate website.

Press database management and press distribution (approx. 20% of time)

Using the Cision online service (training will be provided), you will be responsible for coordinating with our Business Unit Marketing Leads  in the maintenance of the Inmarsat press distribution lists and issuing press releases via these lists.

Media coverage analysis (approx. 20% of time)

Using the Meltwater online media monitoring and analysis tool (training will be provided), you will be responsible for the creation of press coverage analysis reports (these reports are generated by the Meltwater system and do NOT require specific analytical expertise.)  This will include analysis of our share of voice (SoV) against a defined set of competitors.

Additional duties

Manage the processing and payment of department invoices, such as from PR agencies and digital systems services providers.  This is not a major activity and will only require a small portion of your time on an occasional basis.  (Training on these systems will be provided).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage global media distribution and keep distribution lists up to date
  • Oversee automated daily coverage reports
  • Measurement and analysis of media coverage (and social media) results to evaluate the success of campaigns and assess our SoV.
