Experienced HR Advisor required for an established manufacturing business based in the Heathfields Industrial estate, Newton Abbot just off the A38 within easy commute of both Plymouth and Exeter.
The successful applicant will provide the primary on-site Human Resources support to the business. This includes all aspects of Human Resources, from day-to-day HR administration through to developing and implementing the HR Strategy and regular attendance at Senior Leadership Team meetings. Although you will be the sole HR representative on-site, you will also be part of a wider HR Team across the Group.
You will take the lead on HR initiatives such as the annual staff survey, providing feedback to the business as necessary. You will also be responsible for updating and reviewing absence records on a monthly basis, liasing with Line Managers about any further action needed.
Main Responsibilities
* Be the on-site point of contact for all HR queries, issues and advice for employees, Managers and Directors.
* Take the lead on HR initiatives such as the annual staff survey, providing feedback to the business as necessary
* Support Managers with performance management, including the annual performance and development review process
* Maintenance of HR records including paper and electronic personnel files.
* Absence management: update and review absence records on a monthly basis, liasing with Line Managers about any further action needed
* Ensuring that all relevant information is collated and sent to the payroll contact for monthly processing in a timely manner
* Provide support, advice and guidance on HR policy and on the application of policies and procedures.
* Taking the HR lead on investigations relating to disciplinary/grievances and any resulting formal action
* Be responsible for ensuring one's own continuing professional development and adhering to the recognised standards of the CIPD.
* Other duties as directed by the Managing Director/Group Director of Human Resources which are reasonable and appropriate to the position
Experience/Qualifications required
Essential:
The successful candidate will have proven experience of:
* Working in an HR department, within a manufacturing environment
* Providing support, advice and guidance on HR policy and on the application of policies and procedures
* Working in an Investors in People accredited organisation
* Supporting an organisation through growth and change
* Supporting Line Managers with performance management and competency frameworks
* Leading formal investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes
The successful candidate will have:
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in a HR role
* Be a self-starter and self-proficient
* Excellent attention to detail and written and oral communication skills
* Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database skills
* An ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers
* An ability to prioritise, plan and organise workload and working to deadlines
* Analytical skills and an inquiring mind
* An ability to work as part of a wider team
Desirable
* CIPD qualified to level 5 or equivalent
The Package:
* 25 days per annum (plus 8 Bank Holidays) rising to 27 after 5 years' service
* Part time role - Monday to Friday 9.00am to 2.00pm (25 hours per week)
