Procurement Assistant / Category Manager / Assistant Category Manager

Location - Dartford/Manchester

Part-Time, 2 or 3 days a week with flexibility

Are you a procurement professional with the ability to establish strong internal and external relationships? Do you have an eye for detail when it comes to governance, performance and analysing trends? Then Laing O'Rourke has the role for you.

The Assistant Category Manager will work across one of Laing O'Rourke's specialist categories (indirects/aftercare) and be responsible for carrying procurement activity and supporting the Category Managers with after care matters. Are you the type of professional who can identify areas for improvement and initiate change? If so, please take a look at some of the duties below.

Key Capabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the aftercare function to understand their needs & the support required
  • Escalating supply chain issues to the senior Procurement team at the weekly review meetings and taking appropriate action
  • Liaising with relevant Category Leads on tender lists, performance issues, governance
  • Procuring ad-hoc packages and assisting the category teams to procure / manage supply chain aftercare activities.
  • Tender framework agreements to support the aftercare function

About you

You will work autonomously to develop expert knowledge of the market, vendors and products available for your allocated category while working collaboratively with your team and other procurement teams across Laing O'Rourke, as well as supporting our internal Engineering Excellence, Design, Work Winning, DFMA and AMEP functions to realise the maximum level of value available from each category.
