Job Description

Primary Role Purpose:

The Global Government business unit is leading the development of INVISON, an innovative platform to improve access and management of secure government satellite communication to G2 customers.

Inmarsat G2 are seeking a senior software engineer for developing application server (NodeJS/NestJS) functionality for a platform. The successful candidate will be working under the guidance of the lead Software manager.

This role presents a unique opportunity to work within an enthusiast & dedicated team developing a disruptive platform to improve customer experience.

This is a full time role based in London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support development of detailed software design for INVISON.
  • Development of the INVISON software, integrating with various software products & systems (Catalogue, Billing, Ticketing etc.).
  • API integration with existing internal & external systems
  • Implementing structured software testing strategies commensurate with the planned technology readiness level of the final product.

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • NodeJS/NestJS
  • Principles of API design
  • AWS Cloud Infrastructure
  • Microservices, Docker
  • MongoDB
  • SOAP, REST, JSON
  • OAUTH 2.0.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices
  • Unit / component and integration / system testing.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Waterfall and Agile development practices
  • Knowledge of communications networks, ideally satellite communications
  • Knowledge of common security threats and how to recognise / avoid writing exploitable code
  • Network Operation Centre solutions (e.g. Business Support Systems, Operational Support Systems)
  • Relational databases

Knowledge of satellite communication networks / government deployed communications, or a strong desire and aptitude to learn the dynamics of military and government deployments and communications needs and architectures, is highly desirable.

This role would suite a strong, creative, self-motivated person with demonstrable skills in business systems development lifecycles. The successful candidate needs to be comfortable in creating innovative solutions and not be afraid to be disruptive and creative, challenging conventional approaches.

The candidate needs to be fully conversant in English and be competent with MS Office (or similar)
