At Lloyds Banking Group, we have a phenomenal opportunity within our Insurance & Wealth Risk function (IWR) for the Head of Climate & Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) Risk. Reporting directly to the Financial & Insurance Risk Director, you'll be responsible for promoting strong leadership to your team of experts, who provide specialist Climate and ESG risk insight across I&W.

You'll also be responsible for second line oversight of I&W activities and conducting oversight and assurance of business activities and playing a vital role in contributing to reporting for I&W Executive committee and to Insurance Board.

You'll work closely with the Chief Risk Officer, Insurance, the IWR leadership team, I&W executives, Insurance Board, and other senior stakeholders in delivery of this role.

  • Defining and leading the execution of our Risk oversight plan, identifying, and coordinating oversight activities based on both current and future risks Climate and ESG risks of the business.
  • Strong Risk management of a complex range of risk activities ensuring appropriate focus on contending priorities.
  • Collaboratively working with the business to provide independent risk views, value-adding insight.
  • Directly working with our Enterprise Risk Partners in supporting them with all things Climate risk.
  • Ownership of the Insurance Risk Management Framework including development and maintenance of risk policies, risk processes, risk appetite statements and key risk indicators.
  • Ensuring the provision of timely and professional independent opinions for the business, which are aligned with relevant I&W and Group policies, risk appetites, regulatory requirements, and related reporting.
  • Leading, motivating and developing the team to drive individual and collective performance to meet both current and future needs of the business.

What skills are we looking for?

  • An expert in Climate ESG risk, with proven experience in management of regulatory and relevant risk management frameworks.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, legislation and regulation relating to Climate risk management.
  • Experience in leading and engaging teams across multiple locations.
  • Strategic Leadership and lateral thinking,
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels and adapt messaging for different audiences.
  • High level of integrity, tenacity, and resilience.
  • Strong influencing skills and experience to manage and influence a wide and diverse group of partners.
  • Experience in building a team.
  • Revises processes and builds systems that create a culture of teamwork and collaboration across the organisation and actively provides feedback.
  • Effective relationship management, delivering successful business partnering, where authentic, constructive feedback is welcomed.
