Introduction

The In-House Service and Estates Team supports the delivery of the House Service Strategy with the aim of delivering a comfortable, safe, and efficient environment for Members, their staff, and staff of the House to work in; as well as providing a welcoming and functional environment for all visitors to the House of Commons. This role will be supporting teams within the Service Delivery and Retail teams with their uniform requirements.

The Role

The purpose of this new role is to be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the uniform store for the staff of three IHSE teams - Service Delivery, Retail and Heritage Cleaning Team (approx. 75 staff). The uniform store for these three teams is a new operation and the job holder would be able to take an active role in creating a uniform store and associated systems. The job holder would be working closely with the delivery teams and will be responsible for managing all aspects of uniform supply and fit ensuring that the needs of the uniform wearing staff are met. A uniform wearer standard has been drafted and the job holder would be expected to always uphold the uniform wearer standards.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in tailoring and/or garment technology with experience of measuring, fitting, and repairing clothing.
  • Experience of working in a uniform store or a similar environment and able to prioritise own workload whilst delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to work successfully within a team, whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, written and oral, able to build effective relationships.
  • IT and numeracy skills and experience of Outlook, Excel and Word with good attention to detail.
