Chief Operations Office

COO consists of 9 functions including: Satellite Operations, Network Operations, Service Assurance, Service Delivery Aviation and Customer Assurance, Service Delivery and Supply Chain, Project Management Office, Global Cyber Security and Group IT

Job Description

Primary role purpose:

The Aviation Materials Management Specialist (AMMS) will be an integral member of the Aviation Delivery Team working in the company’s COO division. The AMMS will liaise, manage and co-ordinate with programme managers, finance staff, Line Maintenance and Installation teams to ensure all material is available to meet the airline embodiment requirements and specific aircraft work plans. The successful candidate will require substantial experience of working in an aircraft materials and maintenance environment, with substantial experience of complex material movements and logistics. 

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Manage and co-ordinate the supply of materials to ensure full compliance with aviation regulations and standards; specifically with reference to inventory control management and scheduling to meet critical contractual commitments and avoid financial liabilities
  • Manage, review and analysis of key performance indicators for repair parts to include on time delivery, quality, and supplier responsiveness utilising custom tools and systems including ServiceNow, JIRA, confluence, SAP and AMOS
  • Manage the monitoring of aircraft time-change component schedule to ensure replacement components are ordered according to flying hour requirements
  • To work with a high level of independence and be accountable for monthly inventory transactions in excess of $1.M within the aviation supply chain
  • Review and update Critical Item Lists and coordinate with Management team in terms of pricing and purchase       
  •  Implement and monitor procedures for the control and turn-in of serviceable and unserviceable, recoverable and repairable parts, materials, and equipment.          
  • Review production schedules and related information and confer with managers to determine the material requirements necessary to support flying hour programmes
  • Recommend logistical plan to support the maintenance production schedule
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with key internal and external stakeholders including the management of liaison with senior level executives from suppliers, manufacturers and airlines customers 
  • Coordinate with the customer, the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), engineering, management, subcontractors and other personnel as necessary to resolve issues pertaining to supply and logistics            
  • Ensure that parts, materials, supplies, equipment and services conform to appropriate aviation standards, specified aviation certification requirements and that they are delivered in the most timely and cost-effective manner        
  • Use existing aviation knowledge and experience in the swift resolution of AOG (Aircraft on ground) critical situations. Actively manage and troubleshoot problem resolution, senior level communication with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders, and following up to ensure problems are resolved.
  • Lead and implement all work with regards to customer materials requirements including the assessment and analysis of data to ensure customer contractual commitments have been met; including the production of rectification plans where relevant.             
  • Ensure the preparation, maintenance, and accuracy of forms, files, records, reports and other applicable documents pertaining to the procurement, acquisition, issue, turn-in, and disposal of government parts, materials, supplies, and equipment. Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and legibility
  • Report all deviations from established policies or procedures, changes caused by the contractor, or non-compliance with regulations and changes     
  • Evaluate reports, decisions, and results of section in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation, while lowering costs

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Practical and proven experience of SAP, ServiceNow, JIRA, confluence and AMOS
  • Experience of processing high-value and complex aviation orders with multiple Part Numbers and delivery cycles
  • Ability to self-manage the supply chain for large-scale fleet airline programmes - working with third parties to ensure an efficient and cost-effective logistics operation and customer service
  • Experience within the aviation industry working in the in-flight connectivity sector
  • Ability to communicate at all organisational levels
  • History of being a team player and team builder
  • Ability to set the right priorities in a complex environment
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills
  • Positive and energetic attitude
  • Capability to work autonomously as well as a self-starter and self-motivated
  • Ability to adapt and change in a dynamic working environment
