We currently have an opportunity to join a hardworking team dedicated to providing the vital firewall protection to the organisations networks. As the Firewall Team Shift Manager within of this team, you'll be a key person for delivering activities, ensuring that projects are completed to meet our customers needs and service is being maintained.

As part of the Network Technology team this role is at the heart of all of IT for all of the groups systems and customers. As Firewall Engineering Team Manager you'll lead the colleagues responsible for the implementation, currency, development and delivery for some of the most critical security components. You'll also have run and operational responsibilities for these key services, allowing us to respond quickly to technical and security challenges. This role blends both technical aspects with line managerial responsibilities, providing exciting opportunities and no two days are the same.

Your key accountabilities will include;

  • Accountable for the delivery of changes into the firewall estate, ensuring smooth, first time success

  • Accountable for continuing operation of the estate, planning and delivering preventative and remedial activities, including incident resolution and problem management

  • Lead a geographically diverse shift based team, with the support of shift leads, to deliver business changes as well as service activities and service improvements

  • Provide the line manager support for shift colleagues, leading a successful team developing colleagues through stretching objectives, feedback and coaching

Daily activities;

  • Acting as the key contact point for technical engagement for this bank critical infrastructure

  • Planning the implementation of sophisticated changes

  • Delivering changes of all sizes and complexities for our customers

  • Providing leadership and mentorship to colleagues within your team

  • Delivery of infrastructure and service improvement plans, including gateway upgrades and new builds

Key skills and experience;

For this role, the key areas are the following;

  • Team leading confidently, helping technical colleagues work towards a common goal, providing line management and colleague coaching. This includes working with shift based colleagues on multiple sites. This also involves representing this team in discussions with other parts of the IT community.

  • Technical understanding for the network environment and firewall technologies to ensure that appropriate consideration is made for change delivery and helping to ensure appropriate technical planning is undertaken for change activity and driving the resolution of service issues. This would be by having Check point CCSA/CCSE qualifications or from having experience working with Check point or other tier 1 firewall vendors.

  • Relationship building skills to build and harness strong working relationships with essential teams.

  • Ability to influence and inspire others to ensure the team is setup for success, developing colleagues capability

Whilst not essential to have previously worked in Financial Services, having knowledge of regulated environments would be favourable.
