Head of Marketing

Promoting and telling the amazing BAE Systems story from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space is essential as we seek to increase international brand visibility and sell our multi-domain range of platforms, services and systems globally. It's never been a more exciting, or important time to join the business, and we currently have a fantastic opportunity for a newly created role, Head of Marketing as part of our Group plc team.

As Head of Marketing, you will play a crucial role in leading the marketing and events team, taking responsibility to create and implement a marketing strategy that is tailored to our key markets and business winning opportunities. This role will provide you with exposure to all sectors and lines of business in the international market and you will be given the opportunity to develop new relationships and promote our business globally.

Based at our Farnborough Head Office and with regular international travel, there will also be the opportunity for hybrid working.

Your main responsibilities as Head of Marketing will involve:

    Plan, manage and implement a range of international high quality marketing opportunities, campaigns and events in order to engage with customers, to win business and promote the BAE Systems brand, its products and servicesUtilise a range of traditional (physical) events/exhibitions, hybrid and virtual events as well as digital, social media and other marketing opportunities.Manage the Group Marketing budget including reporting, forecasting and all recharges; also manage budget and spend associated with key suppliers and providers.Build relationships across the organization to ensure the marketing events and exhibitions programme is aligned with company, sector, and line of business priorities and key messagesSuccessfully engage with a range of internal stakeholders during the planning and implementation of marketing opportunities and events in order to deliver objectivesLiaise with GBD (Group Business Development), BD (Business Development), Marketing and Events teams and colleagues in other parts of the organisation to ensure consistency and share best practiceReporting on successes and impacts of the marketing events and exhibitions programme - Events will take place across the UK and globally, therefore significant international travel will be expected, as will an understanding of different cultures.

Your skills and qualifications:

    At least five years' work experience in appropriate roleDegree qualified or equivalent experience gained within industryExperience of working in an International environment across regional bordersDefence sector knowledge advantageous but not a pre-requisiteExperience of using planning tools and calendarsFamiliar with interpreting marketing campaign and web data to inform content decisions

  • We are looking for someone who has experience of leading a marketing team and business development with a strong background in running and managing exhibitions and events.
