Assistant Buyer/Buyer

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Buyer/Buyer to join our Procurement function at our site in Rochester, Kent.

As an Assistant Buyer/Buyer you will be responsible for supporting the placement of low value Purchase Orders, and the maintenance of these Orders in accordance with Procurement procedures and processes. You will interface with suppliers, internal project teams and functions to ensure the timely receipt of material to meet the requirements of the business.

This role will provide you with personal development opportunities and the ability to engage and learn with other in the team. You will also gain exposure to our wider business and work with our key stakeholders.

Your main responsibilities as an Assistant Buyer/Buyer will involve:

    Receiving requisitions and demands, negotiating with suppliers, and processing Purchase Orders and Purchase Order amendments in accordance with Procurement processes and procedures, and the requirements of the businessUnderstanding the budget requirements for the Purchase Orders they are responsible for, and to support achievement of these requirements through effective negotiation with their supplierObtaining and communicating progress updates from suppliers in an effective manner, and understanding when to escalate issues to more senior members of staffMaintaining Supplier open order books and ensuring that correct and current data is maintained in the Oracle ERP systemProcessing supplier returns, ensuring these are actioned in a timely mannerUnderstand and supporting the implementation of corporate Procurement processes (Strategic Supplier Management, Sub-Contract Management, and Commodity Management) as appropriate to their area of responsibilitySupporting other members of the Procurement Team as required in their daily responsibilities

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

    Experience within a Procurement or similar commercial environmentStock knowledge / Supply Chain / inventory knowledge experienceSystems experience - Oracle ERP advantageous - strong Excel, and PowerPoint

Desirable

    HNC/HND in Business Studies

What we are looking for in you:

You will have good communication skills being able to liaise with key stakeholder and those around you. You will effectively work in a team environment be organised and have good time management skills. You will be flexible in being able to travel to supplier site as and when required.

Location: Rochester, Kent

Salary: Up to £28,000 depending on experience
