Chief Finance Office

Job Description

Primary role purpose:

This role will support the FP&A Reporting Manager with the monthly reporting requirements of the team including the Monthly Management Report (MMR), the primary performance report for the Exec team, and also support the Systems Administrator and Developer for Adaptive Insights, the financial planning and reporting tool of Inmarsat. Further, the role will gain exposure across the broader FP&A team, performing ad hoc FP&A analytical and planning work as necessary to support the team’s deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support on the planning, coordination and delivery of the MMR, working closely with the business finance teams.
  • Working in collaboration with the Business Intelligence and Analytics team to ensure the automated MMR elements operate effectively.
  • Working with the FP&A Manager on the preparation of other key month end reports, including but not limited to the CFO Review of the month’s results, and Exec and Board reports.
  • Responsible for the headcount reporting process, working with HR to ensure accurate data is loaded into Adaptive.
  • Ensure monthly actuals from SAP and other systems are correctly loaded into Adaptive, working with the Group Reporting team to update mapping tables and correct issues.
  • Support the delivery of the financial planning requirements of Group FP&A, including forecast version control, and load the latest budget/forecast into SAP from Adaptive.
  • Responsible for supporting the day-to-day management and maintenance of the Adaptive Insights tool, including master data and systems access management.
  • Provide training for Finance users on Adaptive and associated OfficeConnect plugins, as required.

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

The ideal candidate must be/have:

  • A good understanding of basic financial reporting processes and requirements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to develop and deliver business-critical reporting, working with senior management as necessary.
  • Self-starter able to see the requirement and propose a way forward to meet it.
  • An understanding of both accounting and commercial drivers underlying financial statements.
  • Strong Excel skills, preferably with a good knowledge of VBA macros.
  • Curiosity and a desire to understand the business which Adaptive supports.
  • A creative problem solver and proactive individual keen to be involved in solving issues and new developments as the need arises.
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with passion for excellence and innovation.
