Lloyds Banking Group is the UK's leading Retail and Digital Bank (nearly 14 million active online customers). Now that we have already created the market leader in digital banking, we're on a journey to build the bank of the future, for which we're investing £3bn across platforms, people, and data capabilities to truly become the best bank for customers.

About the team...

Join our Data team in this key Operational Risk role. We provide oversight of Data Strategy, Key Data Change programs and the key data frameworks as they help to transform the Bank for the benefit of our customers.

The team is working to promote a growth mind-set and a positive attitude towards change. We trial new ways of working and strive to keep up with the dynamic evolution of our customers' banking needs. This isn't about following a process - it's about all of us doing our best for our customers and the Group to keep them safe.

You'll support the business though insightful analysis of their risk practices. In addition, the team provides a focal point for data risk management by supporting other business facing teams with expert knowledge on the technical aspects of data risk management.

This means working closely with both 1st and 2nd line risk colleagues as well as the business teams, getting first-hand insight into changes and challenges faced by the business as they design and build the data architecture that will support our strategy.

There are three areas you'll be focussing on...

Oversight & Insight:

  • You'll plan, design and deliver independent oversight (e.g. thematic reviews, deep dives, real-time, maturity assessment) demonstrating a deep understanding of Continuous Risk Management and One RCSA strategy.
  • You'll analyse data, drawing trends and insight to inform areas for review and support Risk Opinions. Making informed judgements and conclusions to determine implications and priorities.
  • You can produce concise, targeted, and insightful reports to secure business agreement to the outcomes and actions.

Data Management & Governance:

  • You'll support the oversight of our Data strategy.
  • You'll provide constructive challenge on our policies, standards and metrics for data management and governance framework.
  • You'll bring your understanding of operational risk and can articulate the risks posed by lack of data management control.
  • You'll actively contribute to the maturity of Data Quality and Metadata capabilities across LBG and develop your knowledge of data management / governance tooling such as Collibra and Ataccama.
  • And you'll tell the story of data management in a way that motivates colleagues of different backgrounds to act.

Data Architecture & Design:

  • You'd learn about our approach to public/private/hybrid cloud data architecture, migration patterns and oversight and challenge end-to-end data journey decisions to ensure robust and efficient delivery.
  • And you'd understand and offer all aspects of an efficient, flexible, and high-quality data solution for a business problem.

About you...

If you're passionate about Data and looking to take your career to the next level, we value the following in applicants...

What do we need to see in your application?:

  • Demonstrable experience within Data Management and Data Governance preferably in a regulated environment.
  • Excellent understanding of data governance, administration and management functions (such as data collection, analysis and data distribution)
  • Understanding of the impact of technology trends (cloud, analytics, new tooling etc) on Data Management
  • Experience of working in fast paced, complex environment with ability to prioritise tasks
  • Experienced risk professional able to analyse data, review data solutions drawing trends and conclusions to support Risk Oversight Opinions.
  • Effective communicator

And these elements would be desirable:

  • Active knowledge of data modelling and controls for Data Science.
  • Experience of active engagement with Business and Technical areas to efficiently deliver Data solutions.
  • The ability to assess architecture artefacts in organisational context such as roadmaps, architecture decisions, solution options or high-level conceptual designs using non-technical language
