Software Engineer

Lloyds Banking Group, Insurance & Wealth Transformation

Location: Edinburgh based, hybrid working with 2 days per month in the office.

Salary & Benefits: £66,140 to £70,000 base salary, plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

About the role:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a key leadership role in our continued transformation journey by:

 

  • Defining, communicating and being responsible for our software engineering strategy, methods, and approaches; working with others to implement and embed within our end-to-end engineering activity

  • Working with teams and partners to define, agree and implement optimal software engineering approaches; utilising the right tools and techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes for the business

  • Leading, inspiring, and managing individuals to continually improve and develop their software engineering knowledge and capabilities; working in collaboration with other leaders to maximise the benefit of this capability within our teams

 

About You:

The Platform Lab consists of many and varied systems, platforms, and technology stacks. We therefore need a Software Engineering leader with broad capabilities and experience, including:

 

  • The knowledge and ability to apply and lead software engineering initiatives within a Lab, including technical deliveries and engineering improvements, utilising efficient agile methodologies such as Kanban/Scrum

  • A strong software engineering background with expertise in Java, Javascript / Node, Microservices, CI/CD, Shell or Python scripting development, testing and test automation

  • Familiarisation with Linux/UNIX system administration including Git and Kubernetes

  • An understanding of how Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment operates and can be applied in a modern engineering environment

 

It would be great if you had:

  • The passion to lead and mentor software engineers within the team, driving a collaborative engineering culture

  • A good working knowledge of Identity & Access Management concepts, standards and tools (such as Forgerock AM and DS)

  • The desire to drive productivity and reduce delivery risk through an automation first approach

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills and an enthusiasm for advocating quality across Product & Engineering
