There is an exciting opportunity to join IP&I as the Head of Shareholder Assets. Reporting to the Director of Loan Investments & Shareholder Assets, you'll be responsible for setting and continuously improving the overall Investment strategy for our £27bn Shareholder Assets portfolio and delivering that strategy in relation to the traded assets portfolio.

 

Leading a team of five, you'll oversee our third-party asset managers, the internal implementation processes for new types of traded investments and the ongoing management of the existing traded asset portfolio. Key to this role is the responsibility for ensuring internal and external partners are on board with the required deliverables and timescales to support the planned investments.

 

Location & ways of working:


The team is based in Edinburgh and in central London therefore the role can be based at either location.

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Leading, empowering and developing a team of five highly qualified staff.

  • Defining Shareholder investment strategy, ongoing monitoring and development of investment strategy and delivery of new asset capability to improve investment outcomes.

  • Oversight and performance monitoring of third-party investment managers.

  • Integrate ESG, particularly climate considerations, into investment strategy and processes

  • Interaction with other areas of the business, including Bulk Annuity Origination, Annuity Pricing and Finance to ensure delivery of investment strategy and bulk annuity strategy.

  • Set criteria for assessing investments and provide tools and support to the wider team on measuring specific investment opportunities against those criteria

  • Ensuring investment decisions are consistent with Prudent Person Principle (PPP) and other applicable regulatory requirements

  • Chairing the Shareholder Investment Management Committee overseeing management of the shareholder asset portfolio

 

Skills & experience we're looking for:

  • Relevant experience of leading teams in an Investment, Actuarial or Finance area is a must for this role. Ideally with bulk annuity experience.

  • Understanding of Insurance capital and other regulatory requirements and how these impact investment strategy for Insurers and competitiveness for bulk annuities

  • Experience of managing outsourced investment arrangements

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to engage a variety of partners both internally and externally, up to board level.

  • Effective collaboration with internal and external partners to drive projects forward, deliver commercial outcomes and mitigate conflicting priorities.
