The opportunity...

This exciting opportunity seeks a forward-thinking, enthusiastic and self-starting Commercial Assistant to join the RSG Commercial team. The successful candidate will be principally responsible for supporting in day-to-day financial transactions and information across a portfolio of suppliers and service partners spanning multiple Equipment and Building service disciplines.

What will my accountabilities be...

  • Day-to-day financial transactions e.g. supplier invoice payments and store recharges
  • Provide swift responses to general financial administrative queries (e.g. from suppliers, restaurants, Finance, Accounts, Franchising)
  • Administer monthly ‘Application to Pay’ process including collaborating closely with service providers and contract managers
  • Utilise knowledge of basic accounting principles to lead and reconcile the department’s multiple accounts and ensure zero account adjustments. Provide monthly updates to Commercial Consultant, Head of Restaurant Services, and Finance
  • Verification of supplier charges and invoices to ensure accuracy. Follow up to ensure any due rebates are received
  • Generate monthly store journals to Accounts, including for Reactive and Planned maintenance charges across various service subject areas
  • Maintain financial records in line with real estate changes
  • Maintain financial trackers including for store recharges, supplier payments and rebates
  • Conduct financial audits of payments made to suppliers against services received
  • Undertake bi-annual review and reconciliation of ‘Outside Service’ charges
  • Provide analytical assistance to the Commercial Consultant to aid commercial negotiations with suppliers
  • Support management of the Vendor Contract and Pricing Calendar
  • Maintain department databases consistently and accurately
  • Support with Capital Investment administration as required
  • Continuous improvement of manual processes  e.g. through development of automated reporting
  • Provide other ad hoc support as may be required by the Commercial Consultant and RSG

Which team will I be part of...

RSG is made up of a number of direct operations facing teams under one department. This role sits within the RSG Commercial team. McDonald’s has a number of global and local supplier partners that ensure the equipment in our restaurants meets our requirements, produces the best and consistent quality, and can also be maintained quickly. The Commercial team ensures we have the best and most appropriate commercial arrangements with our suppliers, which is key to developing stable and long-term partners that are suitably motivated to deliver the best service to our restaurants.

Who will my customers be...

To work closely with the RSG members alongside other business functions including Finance, Accounts and Franchising, as well as our external suppliers. 

What background do I need to have...

Highly numerate with a good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes

  • Office Administration experience ideally within a Governance or Finance / Accounts team
  • Excellent organisation and time leadership skills with an ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Some McDonald’s operations experience with an understanding of key commercial services that are delivered to restaurants is an advantage
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate – strong Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word skills crucial, with a desire to develop further. Collaboration experience using Teams desirable. Project Management software (e.g. Smartsheet) experience desirable. Knowledge of SQL databases and compiling reports desirable
