The Unsecured Credit Risk team sits within the Chief Credit Office and is accountable for the management of Credit Risk for our market leading unsecured consumer products; Personal Current Accounts, Credit Cards, and Personal Loans, with assets totaling c.£24bn, across Lloyds, Halifax, BoS (Bank of Scotland) and MBNA brands.

Loss forecasting is a critical component in the delivery of our strategy. We forecast loss expectations which inform risk appetite design, credit strategy and delivery of the commercial plan.

We apply predictive analytics to rich historical data and work with Group Economic forecasts to provide long term loss predictions.

Alongside the 2022 update to the Group strategy, we're heavily investing in our data and infrastructure to enhance our credit decisioning capabilities, increasing the scope of loss forecasting and re-engineering loss forecasting models to support sustainable growth.

We're looking for a highly motivated individual who is curious, numerate, and ready to learn and respond in a fast-paced environment.

What will you be doing?

The role involves working with substantial amounts of data using predictive analytics, economic and commercial knowledge to produce loss forecasts. Tools include Excel, Power BI and SAS. Your accountabilities will include:

  • Carrying out data analytics and modelling to support customer needs.

  • Producing regular high quality and trusted reporting and analytics

  • Collaborating within credit risk, product, pricing, and other stakeholders on activities such as: helping set risk appetite through a valuation lens, supporting valuations for credit, product, pricing, and channel strategy.

  • Adopting a continuous improvement attitude, looking for opportunities to improve forecasting and reporting methodologies

We are looking for people who have:

  • An ability to work with numbers and have either a degree in a numerate subject or equivalent quantitative experience gained in previous roles

  • Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Effective communication skills, an ability to build positive relationships with partners and to communicate recommendations clearly to influence business decisions.

  • Effective organisational skills and an ability to manage their own workload while adapting to changing priorities

  • Analytical problem-solving skills and an ability to work creatively with data to draw out insight and answer business questions

  • Proactivity in progressing their own personal development and collaborating with others to improve the culture of the wider team

  • Experience (preferred) in the use of programming languages (e.g., SAS, SQL) to manipulate large volumes of data

  • Experience (preferred) of working in an analytical function within a retail banking environment

  • Experience (preferred) in modelling and forecasting and an ability to prepare data to forecast
