Main purpose of the job:
The post holder will support the Accounts Payable Team Leader in the delivery of all aspects relating to the processing and payment of all incoming supplier invoices, purchasing cards and expenses claims across the University in accordance with the University's procedures, policy and regulations.
Under the direction of the Accounts Payable Team Leader the post holder will process and pay of all incoming supplier invoices and expenses claims across the University. The role is essential to support the University's operational reputation with students, suppliers and external customers.
The post-holder will support the Accounts Payable Team Leader by working closely with stakeholders across Finance, Schools/Colleges and Professional Services to ensure appropriate service levels are agreed and achieved. The post-holder may represent Finance and the University in Finance-related committees, working groups and user groups as relevant to the role.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
Qualifications/Experience:
Essential:
*Have a good standard of education including GCSE Maths and English grade C or above or NVQ2 equivalent.
*Demonstrable experience of working within a financial operations environment, including Accounts Payable activities.
*Demonstrate IT skills including using Outlook and Word, Excel.
Desirable:
*Completed or working towards AAT qualification
*Demonstrable experience of accounting and using bespoke finance systems.
*Experience of working in a large, complex organisation or demonstrable equivalent experience.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential:
*Demonstrate a proactive approach towards customer service.
*Demonstrate good negotiation and problem solving skills.
*Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
*Understanding of basic accounting principles, including an ability to analyse and understand accounting processes.
Desirable:
*Understanding of the Higher Education environment.
