The beauty of working at home is that I can return to the grunge roots of my late teens; wearing a woolly hat, scruffy jeans, my partners large and comfy jumper - and not bothering at all about the state of my hair or face. Lovely!
However, being thirty-something I don't think it is fair to inflict this image on a wider audience at the office. But grooming hair, clothing and face is yet another thing to fit in to an already rushed morning routine! Like yesterday, little one ended up crying about something or other, and the 6.5 minutes I would have spent painting my face to represent something more than a mid-life crisis was instead spent sitting hugging, soothing and reassuring.
So i did my make-up on on the train. Not the first time, won't be the last, and actually I don't mind doing that (have become quite the expert since having a child!). I have chosen to ignore all the disapproving looks (mainly from men) who might think it tacky. I reckon they would be more frightened if they had to look at me make-up free!!
