Link found between parental stress and children’s ill health

Stress suffered by parents may have an impact on their children’s health, according to research. 
A study of 120 children aged five to 10 and their parents over a three-year period found a link between parents’ anxiety and depression and their children’s health. 
Parents were asked to keep weekly diaries of their children’s health and a six-monthly questionnaire about their own mental health and stressful events they had suffered. The research showed a link between parental stress and high temperatures and illness among children.

Australia looks to flexible work options to curb unemployment rates 
Two thirds of people seeking work in Australia are women and offering more flexible work may tackle unemployment figures, according to research. 
The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is calling for more flexible options to encourage women into work. A survey by the Bureau of Statistics shows only 12,000 men cite childcare as a reason for not working, compared with 230,000 women.

Women and men entrepreneurs motivated by different things 
Women entrepreneurs are more likely to be motivated by finding work that helps them juggle family life while men entrepreneurs are more motivated by money, according to US research. 
A recent report by the U.S. Small Business Administration found that women are much more likely to list self-fulfillment, job satisfaction, personal challenge and self-determination as reasons for starting a business. 
They are also motivated by the desire to gain recognition from others whereas men are motivated by the desire to make money and build a company.
