Maternity & Paternity
The firm has recently revised its maternity package and provides a range of support, both financial and non financial, to expectant and new parents. This includes:
• Increased maternity pay during maternity leave – up to 39 weeks paid leave
• Provision of childcare vouchers for 12 months on return from maternity leave
• Development of a parent network
• Promotion of support from counselling managers
• Ongoing promotion of flexible working
• The option to purchase childcare vouchers while making tax and NI savings
• Paid paternity leave
Flexible working
"Flexibility on both sides"
When I returned to work after maternity leave, I requested to work a 4 day week which was met with support from both partners and colleagues. This was shortly before the partner admission process and I have continued with the arrangement as a partner and after a second child.
In practise this means that I normally work, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with Wednesdays off to spend time with my children (I have a daughter aged 5 and a son aged 1) although this can change to meet client requirements.
As partner my role is predominantly client facing. Whilst my clients are generally large multinationals who appreciate the flexible 4-day week, there is a requirement to be personally flexible in order to make the arrangement work, therefore there are occasions when I am required to work a fifth day (on average 1-2 times a month).
