Vodafone has launched a global returner initiative, offering a six-month transition programme to 46 people, five of them in the UK.
The company is offering five returner posts in the UK through its global ReConnect programme for those who have taken a career break to raise children, run a business or just for some time off and are now looking to get back to work.
That includes people who have found themselves taking a lower level, lower paid job as a result of having children and are looking to get back into a corporate career.
Vodafone ReConnect offers a six-month transition programme to support those returning to work after a career break, including flexible working, such as working one day from home, and a four-day working week, for those who want a reduced week.
Four of the five roles on offer are based in the company’s UK HQ in Newbury and one is a regional senior sales manager post which could be based in any of the company’s sales hubs in Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, Stoke, Newark and Newbury.
“It’s a global initiative through which we are aiming to hire 46 returners. We are aiming to become the employer of choice for females by 2025,” says Nuria Munoz, Senior Manager for Executive Hiring.
Over the six months, returners will have access to a mentor, a buddy and a job shadow and will have regular meetings with the global ReConnect community as well as attend a conference where they will hear from managers across Vodafone. Locally, they will get access to learning and development tools and any training they need. Managers hiring them will support their transition and ensure they are up to speed.
After the six months, they will have the chance to become a permanent member of staff.
The programme starts in October and the deadline for applications is 26th August.
“We want to give returners a softer, safer transition back to work rather than throwing them in the deep end,” says Munoz, adding that the business hopes to gain from their skills and from providing an environment which encourages them to stay at Vodafone and develop their careers.
