To be eligible to apply for the Workingmums.co.uk Talent Attraction Award, organisations should demonstrate that their recruitment process openly promotes flexible working
This is an area of growing interest and research from Working Families shows that few employers advertise openly that new jobs can be done flexibly, putting the onus on potential recruits to know when to raise the issue at interview. Current legislation means that you cannot apply for flexible working until you have been in a job for six months.
Nominees for this category should be able to demonstrate:
− That they are openly advertising jobs as being able to be worked flexibly, where this is possible
− That flexible working is integral to every aspect of their recruitment process
− How they are monitoring the process, for example, in terms of the calibre of applicants they are attracting and retaining.
Submissions should be backed up by supporting evidence, where possible, such as examples of job adverts and training around interviewing.
In order to be considered, all interested employers are required to complete an application covering key areas as outlined in the guidance above.
It is vital that employers include data that is specific and relevant to the category they choose to enter so that the judges can see why they should be considered for a specific Award. Where possible, employers should strengthen their application by including case studies which are relevant to the category applied for as well as evidence that policies are being monitored and developed, such as statistics on take-up of policies.
Employers may choose to enter more than one category. Entries should be no longer than four sides of A4 paper, but supporting evidence can be of any length. Six copies of each entry should be submitted by post.
There will be an initial screening by Workingmums.co.uk and a shortlist compiled. Shortlisted entrants will then be judged by a panel of judges that will include experts on the issues concerned. The application will be judged purely on the application form and evidence supplied – hence the need for a strong, relevant application.
The Top Employer award winner will be selected from those shortlisted for all the other categories. Winners will be announced at the WorkingMums Top Employer Award ceremony in central London in November 2012.
Companies can enter more than one category, return to the category page and see if you qualify, click here. If you require more information on the Workingmums.co.uk Top Employer Awards please contact Sally Bradley at awards@workingmums.co.uk or call 020 8432 6094.
