Divorce: the options

Christmas and its aftermath is traditionally a busy time for family lawyers. Often the stress of the season, the emphasis on families and the beginning of the new year with its emphasis on reflecting on the past year make people rethink their relationships and what they want from them.  Negotiating the whole business of divorce and separation is hard, particularly when children are involved. It can force major life changes. When Suzy Miller launched her Starting Over Show some of the press reports suggested she was celebrating and encouraging divorce. The Church of England, no less, was approached for a comment. In fact, the shows do nothing of the kind. Their purpose, says Miller, is to provide support and advice for people who are facing major life transitions, be that divorce, redundancy or bereavement, so that they can move on with their lives.
